Spatial Media Lab has a new Board!

On Monday, October 6th, the Spatial Media Lab e.V. held their annual Mitgeliderversammlung (General Assembly). This year, all board members were up for re-vote and Stefan Kraus had decided to step down from his post as Schatzmeister. After a short speech from each of the members volunteering for a role on the board, the members present voted unanimously for the volunteers. Without further ado…

Andrew Rahman
President at Spatial Media Lab

Andrew, producer and sound designer, crafts immersive multimedia experiences and educates on the value of spatial media in storytelling. Co-founder of Spatial Media Lab, he’s collaborated on concerts and innovations in spatial audio such as the Ambisonics to Dolby Atmos converter for Reaper. As an Applications Engineer with d&b audiotechnik, Andrew brings in-depth knowledge on cutting spatial audio technologies and techniques to large-scale speaker deployments for events in a variety of markets.

Timo Bitter
President at Spatial Media Lab

Timo Bittner is an Application Engineer at L-Acoustics and Founder of Spatial Media Lab e.V., based in Berlin, Germany. With a background spanning audio technology and freelance live sound engineering, Timo has built expertise across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, working with premium audio systems and digital sound platforms. He studied at the Berufliche Schule Farmsen, focusing on commercial and information technology. As a founder, Timo bridges the gap between artistic programs and technical execution, creating innovative experiences for diverse audiences while building connections across the European audio and spatial media landscape.

Basel Naouri
Treasurer at Spatial Media Lab

Basel Naouri is a Berlin-based architect, musician, and spatial media scenographer who creates immersive, multi-sensory experiences at the intersection of sound, space, and technology. As founder and director of slowfuture (a transmedia design studio) and TimeLab (a temporal immersive media environments lab), he develops innovative installations for museums, festivals, and exhibitions worldwide, including the Venice Biennale and Dubai Design Week. With formal training in architecture (BSc) and Media Spaces (MA), he teaches in the New Media Design Master’s Programme at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences while curating new media and electronic arts. His practice seamlessly blends architectural expertise with his musical background as a multi-instrumentalist and electronic music producer—notably as a core member of El Morabba3 since 2018 and co-founder of Arabs with Synthesizers—creating transformative environments that redefine how audiences experience immersive storytelling.
