Technologies Used

Developed for Mozilla’s “Reclaim the Internet” event at Alte Münze, Berlin, “Reclaim Wonder” stands as a testament to the complex and surprising nature of human creativity in our interconnected age.

The installation presents sixteen interactive portals that serve as living thresholds between physical and virtual domains. Through a sophisticated particle system, digital content spawns and moves in parallel to the physical locations of visitors, creating a dual presence that bridges simulated complexity with tangible reality.

Each transparent portal reveals a unique intersection of the virtual landscape, connected to its neighbors through spatial awareness technology. As individuals approach and gaze into these entryways, the portals respond—tracking both their relationship to other portals and the presence of visitors. This interplay between artistic expression and human interaction generates ever-shifting displays of movement and color, accompanied by a spatial audio score that allows each virtual entity to be followed throughout the space.

The experience invites visitors to pause and reflect on how networks and devices have profoundly influenced the way we lead our lives, interact with others, and engage in forms of expression. It addresses the frantic, energetic process of our digital existence at multiple layers, where every contribution counts and every moment shapes our collective experience.

“Reclaim Wonder” explores the profound possibilities that arise when we reconsider our relationship with the digital landscape. As if through invisible forces, we gravitate and accelerate toward an unknown and exciting future—one where the boundaries between observer and participant, physical and virtual, dissolve into something new.
